January and February
Due to COVID restrictions, January and February will be quiet months. Check back for upcoming events.
Clean out the tackroom! It's our annual tack sale. This year the sale will be held at Olsen's in Chino Valley. Stay tuned for the date!
April 25th at Haven Ranch, Paulden (Rhonda Kloster's)
Bring your horses for a groundwork workshop with Michelle Whan and Cheryl Nunez. For this workshop we would like to work on the more basic ground skills: haltering, leading at the walk and trot, manners, and problems ups might be having that keep you from coming to a fun day. Like how to do a halter - or showmanship - class, spooking. In other words, fill in some of those holes in their foundation. Give your horse the confidence to trust you as the alpha, to follow you where ever you want to go. If you have a 10' lead rope, bring it along. We give lots of fat free rubs and hugs. Directions will be posted.
May 23 at Haven Ranch, Paulden
June 5 Fun Day at Whanderosa Ranch, Paulden(Michelle and Rob Whan's)
Did we say FUN DAY! Yes, we mean FUN. The classes will be in hand, so halter, showmanship, obstacles and other fun classes. No tension allowed, but running shoes are good. Keep an eye on the site for classes and courses, which you may walk or run - or jog. Bring suntan lotion and a hat. Lunch and a chair also good. Silliness and a happy day out for all.
July 10 Meet-a-Mini at Memory Park, Chino Valley
This is always a great day to show off our best friends. Our horses are our best ambassadors! Meet the public, our community, and talk about our horses. The weather is usually perfect and Memory Park brings lots of folks out to see us. Be ready to answer lots of questions from friendly, curious Chino Folk. Depending on COVID and FDA, we might even have a bake sale.
August 8 BBQ and Meeting, place TBD
Usually we hold this earlier in the year, but breaking with tradition, we'll have an outdoor, old fashioned BBQ ruled by our Secret Agent Grillmeister. We hope you will join us for a social afternoon, meeting new members and seeing old friends.
September 12 Harness 101, Whanderosa Ranch, Paulden
It's all about the straps and thingies and how it all somehow keeps the cart connected. Bring the horses, harness, and carts. Can't remember how you hitched before winter set in? Bring your questions. Haven't got cart and harness yet? Cone on out, we'll get you going hands on, in and around the harness. Even if you are not yet driving your horse, come on out and learn it isn't all as scary and confusing. Don't forget, all of us who do drive went through all those moments of confusion. Join us, see different kinds of harness and accessories, and yes, socialize!
October Fall Fun Day Date and place TBD November December 5 Prescott Christmas Parade
Usually we have our Fall Fun Show, but COVID strikes again through the insurance and state restrictions. Let's face it, none of the horses are going to wear a mask without protest. BUT we don't need them for a Fun Day! Plan on a full day of fun and frolic and a variety of classes for all levels. These shows are designed to let everyone try something for fun and with friends. No seriousness! Hard hats are a must. Bring your horse and all the toys, sun screen and a chair for lunch, while we have a meeting. We have great prizes, a fun class list - maybe even a costume class
